I live at sea level and the pass is at 1020 metres, so it is decent climb. Basically, to get there I cycle on more or less flat terrain for the first 7-8 km and then more or less constantly uphill for the next 30 km. The reward is the subsequent descent but also the sight I see every time I go up there. Yesterday, during the initial stages of the ride, I came across this herder and his dog guiding the flock to pasture: http://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/i-hgxdpcs/A <http://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/i-hgxdpcs/A> Then, at the Puerto, I met many other cyclists, both road types (of which I am one) and mountain bikers. The area is great for both kinds of cycling: http://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/i-MJBSk8b/A <http://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/i-MJBSk8b/A> And then I rolled home, letting gravity do its thing :-) Cheers, Nathan Nathan Wajsman Alicante, Spain http://www.frozenlight.eu <http://www.frozenlight.eu/> http:// <http://www.greatpix.eu/>www.greatpix.eu PICTURE OF THE WEEK: http://www.fotocycle.dk/paws <http://www.fotocycle.dk/paws>Blog: http://nathansmusings.wordpress.com/ <http://nathansmusings.wordpress.com/> Cycling: http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/belgiangator <http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/belgiangator> YNWA
