We were in Taos, New Mexico in October. Interesting place. There is a
pueblo there that still has some full time occupants. They don?t want you
taking their photo, so I respected that.

The new church

The old church and cemetery

Some of he buildings. Some are shops, some are residences, most are not
really used, but are maintained.

At the other end of Taos is the famed San Francisco de Asis Mission Church.

No photos are allowed inside.

And Taos is filled with colorful doors and windows, like much of New Mexico

Before Taos we were in Canyon De Chelly. We took a guided tour of the
canyon and along the way our guide had mentioned the exploits of Kit Carson.
He was one of many childhood heros of mine, and many a young boy growing up
in the 50?s and 60?s. Our guide was not impressed with Mr. Carson and old
a few tales of his own. My opinion changed. It just so happened that Kit
Carson is buried in Taos. I visited his grave:

And deposited a bit of spittle on it for the Indians of Canyon De Chelly.
Heard a few tales at the Pueblo the next day, too.

Comments welcome.
