Doug.  Of all the people on the LUG, you are the one that maybe the SL was 
made for.  I would love to see what you can do with it.  Hope one day to 
open a message from you that has some wonderful bird photos with the SL and 
the APO.

There's temptation to sell my backup 280 APO, the proceeds from its sale 
plus cash on hand would almost fund an SL purchase.

But:

Do I need to be an early adopter?
Do I need to be the one who drives the new SL off the dealer's lot?
Is the FD 300 L an adequate backup?

Given current family obligations limiting time in the field, it's more 
prudent to wait 6 months for a demo camera - but the SL is getting hard to 
resist.
