The other important and expensive aspect of these "sets" is that the glass and coatings are matched and there is absolutely no color shift when changing lenses scene to scene. I once hired a cinematographer for a TV commercial shoot. He didn't own a camera. Rented whatever camera was required; film, video, whatever. Though he did own his set of lenses, filters and light meters. He knew precisely what the his owned set could and would deliver. That's what people paid him for; irrespective of format.
