I read somewhere that the A7 has no effective first shutter... it takes the
data directly from the sensor at the start of exposure.  The A7r does use
the first shutter to start the timing...

The A7 shutter is therefore quieter if only because the first shutter
movement never happens.....

First shutter = open the shutter to allow light to hit the sensor.  In this
case, close the shutter (EVF camera has the shutter always open,) open the
shutter then start the collection of light. 
Second shutter = close the shutter to stop the collection of flight rays to
the sensor.

The A7R is shockingly loud. Might just change to the 7S just to avoid giving
heart attacks to others.
