Here we can see how the older and more experienced bull would lower his trunk, slightly twist his head and 'ram' his 'blunt' tusk in between the eyes of the younger male. The younger male had magnificent tusks. Long sharp and undamaged, but this proves size is not always important ;-) http://tinyurl.com/l4nfnzk http://tinyurl.com/ky6asha Locking horns. After the first 'thump' between the eyes, the older male would lock into position and push his younger competitor backwards http://tinyurl.com/ln3u3ue the last joust: here the older one again thrusts his tusk into the upper trunk of the younger. What follows is a close up of that. You can see the 'indentation' and the dust thrown off the beta male as the contact impacts. http://tinyurl.com/mgp7qq2 http://tinyurl.com/lqt4lh6 More shoving and the smaller one was almost 'out of it'. Make sure you look at the next one large http://tinyurl.com/n6bypj7 Here the dust is really flying as the younger male is forced back. http://tinyurl.com/n4hqrl6 finally in the distance the older male catches up to the fleeing challenger. He whacks him with his truck and sends the pretender on his way It was FANTASTIC to see this unfold. Cheers Alastair
