The new normal for 36MP class lenses is breathtaking..... in fact, newly
minted lenses are just over the top expensive....

Leica ASPH Summilux 50/1.4 well north of $3500
Leica 50/2 Summicron $2300  ( designed some time in the long ago past)
Leica 50/2 APO ASPH Summicron $7350
Zeiss 50/2  Otus $4000 (manual focus on Nikon AF cameras)

Nikon 50/1.8 G $217 
Nikon 58/1.8  $1700

There is no shame.....

A lens announced to to compete with Zeiss? It is a crazy price for a Nikon
