Interesting, but I'm lucky and don't have to buy one.  I've got an old 
Darlot that has a similar look:

It takes 49mm filters, so with a reverse adapter I can put it on my Canon.

Their diagram is mis-labelled.  It should read "depth of focus" at the 
sensor plane.  Depth of field is on the subject side of the lens.
