The binocular bug bit me again and I went with a pair of Bushnell Legend HD

 I
seem to be reading a lot of good stuff about them and hopefully they won't
disappoint. Originally I was going to go with the 8x42s but these have a
slightly wider angle.

I've had the 8x42 Legends for 12-14 years and have been extremely pleased
with them, especially at the price point (<$300 back then). However, I
don't think they were ED/HD glass back then. Strong points are durability,
waterproofing, ergonomics, excellent eye-relief, and comfort. Optically
they are certainly bright and sharp enough for any needs I might have, but
I wouldn't try to compare them to the high-end gear costing $1,000 and up.

Thankfully, mine are black! ;-)
