Subject: [Leica] Grey Crowned Cranes

A big unexpected bonus in Amboseli was the sheer number of Grey Crowned
Cranes, most in pairs accompanied by a couple of bundles of brown fluffy
chicks following them around. Every waking moment seemed to be spent in
foraging for food and feeding the chicks, usually one chick to each parent.
Surprisingly, unlike the shy behaviour that I had come across elsewhere,
they were not perturbed in the least bit having vehicles that emitted
strange clicking sounds from within around them as they went about the
business of feeding the chicks. Here are three studies of this
spectacularly beautiful bird, all taken late in the evening when they
seemed to be most active:
