In the beginning, God created the IT department. In it were the big
mainframe and little displays with attached keyboards at user desks, and
wires that connected it all together. Your storage was on a diskpack in the
main IT department. It was accessible anywhere in the building there was a
little display ( any color you wanted, as long as it was green).

When God created the IT department, He also created software that was rented
to clients at exorbitant rates, and yearly update fees, etc. people would
come out to the IT department and install the most recent versions, maintain
the SW, and charge for anything they could. As a user, you got to complain
to the IT department. They in turn ( maybe) would complain to the vendor of
the system. Sometime in the future, it might get fixed.

So now we call it The Cloud.

What's different today?

So $50 a month is $600 a year, and for that fee, you get a $300 biannual
update included.

20GB of (cloud) storage is worth about $2.00. Based upon a 1TB HDD costing
$100. It will hold about 1000 M9 images. I remember Tina stating she takes
(took?) about 25-50,000 images a year.

The expression... a little bit pregnant... seems relevant.

If you think it is a good deal, go for it......

Has anybody signed up yet for the Adobe Creative Cloud? It looks like they
are going completely to subscription-based software and claim that all kinds
of extras are available with the cloud versions of all of their programs. I
would probably do the single app version for PSCS6 which is
$19.99 a month. It includes 20GB of cloud storage. For all of the Adobe
creative programs, the price goes up to $49.99 a month unless you have a
current version of Photoshop and they are offering a $29.99 upgrade for
that.

Any opinions?

TIA
