Good on you for a solid action photo during a tough sport to shoot. What one must keep in mind with bull riding is, "A VERY IMPORTANT POINT INDEED!" Just because the rider get's bucked-off as we see here, I'm sure you are well aware of this. But for the lads who may not have had the opportunity to do so. They might pay attention and come home with a couple of good? great? incredible action photos by following through on the action. Just because the cowboy is bucked off it doesn't mean the bull is finished with him! And wants to get even until the synch belly strap around his hind quarters has been released. Now look at this photo. Cowboy is coming off, he lands on his back and the bull is just beginning to turn in the riders direction so he can either trampled him, or give him a horn in the body some place. That's why the photographer must stay with the scene for any and all follow through action possiblities. Yep it's nice to have a solid action photo as you have! But quite often the "KILLER OR MAJOR INJURY PHOTOS ARE NEXT!" ERGO? The camera stays locked right to the scene when they are so close as here. The bull can turn faster than you can blink an eye so the photographer stays locked on the scene until the cowboy is safely up the fence and out of harms way. Quite often "out-riders" on horse back get into the action to block the bull away from the cowboy. So within a very few minutes a half dozen or more super action pictures can happen! So one never shoots one photo and puts camera down! It's almost like it "ain't over until the fat lady sings?" ;-) Or the cowboy is up and out of the arena. Just a few learning points for the uneducated yet to shoot bull riding! :-) So endeth he lesson for today! :-) cheers, Dr. ted
