Several things:

Had the seller sold similar stuff before? Sometimes an established account 
can be hacked and high value items fraudulently advertised.

Did you contact seller via eBay or was there an email address in the advert? 
The latter is often a fraud (often with Western Union payment)....

I actually did probe inside the bag of oatmeal in the vain hope of finding 
at least the hood!
The bag was an immediate giveaway as it was too small to hold the Noctilux 
for sure.
Thanks for your sense of humour though. Off-the-record I have threatened to 
send the seller a stink bomb!
