In my humble opinion, if you are creating, you may create in color,
black, white, burnt sienna, or whatever you wish.

If you attempt to portray another creator's work, you should be true
to that creation.

Hence, God made Tulips in color in the United States.  Other places,
she made them in colour.

In Queens, New York, where Robert Maplethorp grew up, they were
obviously gray or grey, if you prefer.
