Monopods have always been allowed at every Olympics I've shot since 1968 in Mexico! Most of them, Winter & Summer, Pan American and Commonwealth Games. How do you think the guys working with a 600mm Canon or Nikon gear hold the lens and camera? My son does hand hold a 400mm Canon and shoots quite a bit of his sport assignments in that fashion. But then he has muscles and shoulders like a weight-lifter! Amazing to watch him! Dr. ted :-)
