In the 60's on through the Leica brand had an interesting position.
It was well known if you wanted to be a photographer you got a Nikon F. as
"all the best photogs were using them."
But the very best photogs were using Leica M's. That was less immediate
obviously but certainly no secret.
The photographers you'd not just admire but the ones you'd really want to
be. Just look at the Magnum yearly class picture.

The cr?me de la cr?me were still rangefinder users.

There is on conceivable reason why some of that cant be re instated with the
next generation M.
