Subject: [Leica] Long lenses for the S2

There are 2 issues going on here....
Image Circle... which most long lenses have .. the longer the lens, the
bigger ( in general) the image circle.
Lens registration.. in this case, how far from the focal plane is the back
of the lens....

I would think the R registration is much shorter than the S2.  For the long
lenses, you can usually machine off the "extra" to make it work or ad on
something if required.  For a 50mm or so, I doubt it.

OTOH, I have no info on the actual focal plane to lens plane distance on the
S2......

I know for sure that the 50/2R has a rather large image circle - it covers
55mm (wide) of the XPan frame. I think the wide angle zoom 21-35mm also has
a very large image circle as well.
