The focusing tab on my 35mm Summicron (pre-asph) broke just like you 
described about 20 years ago. Kindermann replaced it for only a slightly 
outrageous price. If I was on tight budget, I would either have lived with 
the broken tab or glued it back together. :)

Haven't had any problems since then.
