This from Camera Quest:
Leica M9 + DR Summicron

The Leitz 50mm Dual-Range Summicron is not recommended for use on the M9.
The rear section of the lens does not fit into the cavity of the M9. However
in close focus mode the rear section of the lens moves forward and the lens
can then be mounted so the DR becomes a closeup lens for the M9. However, a
piece of the close focus "goggles" must be modified as the M9 has slightly
different dimensions from a film M. If not focus will not be
accurate. Closest focusing distance is 48cm, compared to 70cm which is the
absolute minimum for Leica M cameras.
