Hi Ken,

I think it was the screen in the older Epson heads. Once they went to
the 2000P, all the head, whether for dyes or pigments, did not have
the problems that a the 1280 generation suffered from.

That sounds like the UT2 inkset. That was probably the most popular
of the inksets I designed. It became MIS's largest product the first
week it was introduced. (I gave them the design royalty free in order
to promote B&W. At the time B&W prints with dyes and pre-LK inksets
were just pathetic.)

I'm still trying to push B&W to a higher level with my harping on 100%
carbon pigments. These prints are a order of magnitude more stable
than the blended color + carbon inksets like the UT2 or Cone neutral
sets. The Epson K3 and HP Z3100/3200 inkset are about twice as stable
as the old blended B&W inksets. (Third party colors are not up to the
OEM colors.) The sophisticated testing that has confirmed my carbon
harping is at http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/ . I've summarized
some of their results on the first page of
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Eboni-4-Plus.pdf .
