It was Milwaukee's first local brewer to take product national

and had enough loyalty for numerous other large brewers

to purchase the brand, over the years, and keep the brand alive.

George is absolutely correct. Blatz was an old Milwaukee favorite. And
anyone who drinks beer in the U.S. knows that the best beer comes from
Milwaukee, the destination of most of the Germans who immigrated to the
country in the 19th century.

Before the invention of refrigerated transportation beer would not travel
well and rarely was sold more than 50 miles from the brewery. Still, people
liked beer. So every town had its own brewery or two. In the small town in
the midwest where I grew up,  my best friend's father owned the local
brewery, Schlangan Beer, I recall. His mother's kitchen had three taps over
the sink. Hot water, cold water, and beer. A brewery employees job was to
bring a fresh keg of beer to the house every week.
