I'd like to be able to just plug my card into a card reader, so I will  
take your advice and check the cards' integrity in Disk Utility.

I can't go to Apple Tokyo for a quick test on their Macs, because I  
live in Miyazaki, Kyushu, and will probably not go to Tokyo until  
winter.  I think one of my co-workers has a new Mac with built in card  
reader, I will try that.
