The S2 main competitors are - people who are interested in the Nikon and Canon top end. The ones that cost $8000 for the bodies, not $1000. - medium format commercial shooters.Prior to the S2, they had the choice of Hasselblad H system and the Phase One Mamiya-derived system. Neither of them really has a stranglehold like Hassy V or Bronica did. Now, they have the additional choice of the S2... and still nothing else. The Pentax 645D is elling way above their expectations but they don't have the lens (it turns out that the performance of the older 645 lens are hit or miss with the D body). This is a market different from the traditional R8/R9. That market is dead. There's no way anyone can really compete effectively against Nicanon. Look at Sony's A900/A850 sales: full frame for under $3K and they are not going anywhere. We do know one fact: we don't know how many S2 bodies and lens they are making, but we do know that they are selling like hotcakes. -- // richard <http://www.imagecraft.com/> // icc blog: <http://imagecraft.com/blog/> // photo blog: <http://www.5pmlight.com> [ For technical support on ImageCraft products, please include all previous replies in your msgs. ]
