A bit of internet research led me to a reference on the "pleasing" color of
Kodachrome. The information is contained in: The reproduction of colour By
Robert William Gainer Hunt.

A Google reference to the book is:
*Reproduction of Colour*:

Apparently my old professor was telling the truth since his previous job was
at the Univ. of Rochester.
In contrast to Kodak's "pleasing" color, Fuji touted the true color
rendition in its introduction of Fujicolor in the US market in the '60s. I
always thought the Fuji slides looked weak next to their Kodak competitor.
