I agree with Douglas about Prague - one of the top ranking picturesque  
cities I've visited - the only itch is its own success ... avoid the  
touristic season (long and short holidays alike)
  or you'll never be able to shoot anything but gaudy and noisy PS  
holders ...

Also, this is where Pils(ner?) was invented - the mother place of  
Budweiser if I'm not mistaken.

Public transport (tram) was fine 5 years ago.
And the food was excellent, if not gone too international hence  
insipid nowadays.

Paris is safe so long as you act sensibly ... and a little more  
carefully on the tube at rush hour ...
