Of all the comments I most relate to yours Mark.
For the sake of discussion I kept the two examples a fair distance apart.
Though did end up feeling that neither actually achieved "the one" status.

One thing remains clear
the negative (or RAW file) is the score
and the print (or .jpg) just one of many possible performances.
