Subject: [Leica] Please tell me what is special or legendary about the Zeiss 3.5cm F4.5 Orthometar

They were rare.  Most buyers of Zeiss Contax had money... and they bought 
the top of the range.....the absolutely wonderful f2.8 Biogon.  If I 
remember corectly, the Orthometar was supposed to have less distorion, 
because of its design.  But it was cheap feeling and obviously not the top 
of hte range.

I had one, and found it not as nice optically as the Biogons.

YMMV

If I remember right, it was a pre war lens..... and that too may have had a 
lot to do with its demise....
