Opening up the lens, changes the degree of DOF... more or less... perpendicular to the focus plane. For max fun, you open up as wide as possible, and tilt to suit your scene. As Bob uses his T+S lens to enhance DOF ( or really, all he does is to rotate the focus plane) to get max DOF, do it "wrong" and you get the effect you see in these photos.... BTW, no one mentioned the fast speed of the people.... caused by a slow FPS.... which we also relate to as insect like movement... miniatures..... You could tilt the lens up or down to create the effect ..... the scene will tell you which is correct..... Can't do this well with a RF (Film) camera..... best for an SLR.... film or digital.
