Subject: [Leica] What are the rumors around Leica and Photokina? WAS : Leica annual report

A lot of people on the lists when they are looking at cameras to get they
are looking at cameras to get to not so much to add to their body of work -
Which they could care less about. They are looking for the fun of owning a
new camera, better than the Jones next door and playing with it for awhile.
Then selling it. Rinse and repeat.
A camera like the Hasselblad digital and the Leica S2 does not lend itself
to this brand of amateur commerce. Its just not a causal buy like a thing
which costs a few grand.
You and buy and trade M6's and M7s and M8's back and forth till the cows
come up but laying out $28 grand for an S2 or 30 or 40 grand for a digital
Hasselblad is not going to be done with the residuals from Fridays paycheck.
It's just not going to happen.
This means you can't have the greatest camera for few weeks or month on your
block any more. Because if a commercial photographer lives on the block they
are going to have made that kind of financial commitment and you are not.
So much for fun with money. Some will have to just choose a different hobby.
