Wild wolves have been migrating into New York from Canada but they haven't reached the Hudson Valley yet. When they come we can have Friday Flowers again. Locals have been calling deer 150 pound rats. They will eat everything green. We do have coyotes but they are too small to chase a fully grown deer. They will take down small fauns but only if Mama is not present. I have a video of a coyote devouring a faun about a few yards from our kitchen window. Coyotes do kill and eat cats and small dogs and if you want your tiny pet to live long and prosper it is well to keep it indoors. We live in a heavily wooded area near the Hudson, fairly remote from nearby towns. Our small lawn has a southern exposure and is warmed by the afternoon sun. A while back I came across a sleeping fox. Foxes generally flee from humans but this one just blinked and when back to sleep. I suspect that he gorged himself on fermented wild raspberries and was sleeping off a good drunk. A few hours later I noticed him staggering off to his den. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Larry+Z/Sleeping+Fox+1.JPG.html Here is a closeup. I couldn't have been more than a couple of feet from his nose. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Larry+Z/Sleeping+Fox+2.JPG.html Oh, yes, an informal portrait of Mrs. Bambi taken from the shadow side. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Larry+Z/Mrs_+Bambi.JPG.html Larry Z
