Subject: [Leica] M9 Lens Exception..... 35 Lux...

Some of the early pre-ASPH Summiluxes had a shroud on the back of the lens
and that prevents them focussing to infinity on an M8 - and I assume the M9.
Leica can remove this shroud to allow infinity focussing.

Not all samples are affected in this way and many will allow infinity
focussing 'out of the box'.

Does anyone have an idea of why the 35 Lux ( Pre ASPH) would have a problem

Per M9 Manual,,,

"Some examples of the Summilux-M 35mm
> f/1.4
(not aspherical, manufactured from 1961?1995,
Made in Canada) cannot be

or will not focus to infinity. Leica Customer

can modify these lenses so that they can be used
on the LEICA
> M9."

Sounds pretty weird to me.....
