Mark,
You are right. Apple has increased the contrast on the MacBook as compared
with the previous generation of flat screen Powerbooks. Try this as an
exercise. Open a photo in GraphicConverter. Change the gamma to 1.8. That's
what the older Macs are set for. Now increase the gamma to 2.2. This is what
is displayed on your new purchase. Fiddle around with the gamma until you
get a setting that you like. Then go to Tekserve with the information and
have them adjust the display settings of your new MacBook.
