Subject: [Leica] A big thanks to all Re. my Wagner article

LUG: I want to thank everyone who read my Wagner article and responded
about it. The LUG was a great sounding board for the article. We have
members from all over the globe who are intelligent, articulate and
interested in music, and know something about the creative process. And
we all use (or have used) a German-made camera, so we have to some
degree self-selected out those who would despise Wagner's music because
of simplistic "guilt by association."

I read and thought about every opinion expressed. I won't be able to
personally answer everyone, but I want each and every one of you to know
that I valued your contributions to the discussion. I wanted to
stimulate thought, and it appears I've done that. I wanted to get
beyond the extremes of "He was Hitler's favorite composer, so I hate his
music" vs."Wagner was such a genius that nothing else matters." I
wanted to explore the gray areas between those extremes, where one can
be fully aware of both the greatness of the music and the despicable
bigotry the composer espoused.

A few days after the article came out, it was picked up by The Gathering
Note, a Northwest site for classical music commentary. So it got to a
wider audience.

Thanks again to all!
