Dear All,

At the end of last month I was in Puerto Rico for a few days - to visit our
field-trials there and hold an annual meeting. As these things tend to be
rather hectic I did not expect any time for anything interesting and so only
took the G10 from the lab to get some pictures of the plants. However, on
the way back on Sunday I had a 9 hour wait between flights at Newark. So, I
took the train to New York and spent some hours in and had lunch at the
MoMA. Afterwards I strolled back to Penn Station to catch my flight back to
Bristol. As you know I'm a confirmed film man, but I thought I'd give the
G10 a whirl. Here are a few of the results:

You will note, some se?oritas for Lluis!
On the plus side, it is silent. But I don't like the viewfinder or the
funny little screen at the back. The lack of ready control over it was also
frustrating, as are the blown highlights. But I wasn't totally dissatisfied
with the results; however, I'm happy to be back to my Leica and Tri-X!

Normally the G10 is screwed onto a gel documentation set up to photgraph
ethidium bromide-stained DNA gels. Perhaps I should have handled it with
latex gloves!

John
