I'm with you there. In its absence, I'm using the 1.4x screw-in for 50s
and longer. It's a hack, but it helps -- I can recommend the 1.4x
magnifier.

You mean old-way? I cannot tell a lie, I was glad when they
rationalized the direction the shutter dial turns. Now it goes in an
intuitive direction relative to the exposure-meter arrows, and matches
the handedness of the R shutter dial.
