We have no reason to expect respect from motorists if we don't respect the laws we are subject to. If the laws are stupid and/or pointless let's change the laws! > a new infrastructure > designed for low speed > human and electric powered vehicles > would be lovely > > at this point we have many lovely "bike paths" > all designed for leisure riding > getting to the bike path is the dangerous part > > I'd like to see full fledged lanes > for utilitarian use > to actually get to places > we need to go to I agree! The current bicycle route system here in the Sacramento area is a patchwork of leisurely lanes, abandoned and decrepit roads, and rutted & ragged road shoulders littered with gravel, automotive debris and unbreathable vehicle exhaust. I must say however that Sacramento County Parks have done a great job maintaining the bicycle trails along the American River parkway. Getting to & from the river bike trails is the most dangerous part of the ride.
