Subject: [Leica] lightroom layer question

so I have a layered psd file with a transparent background.  i bring it into
lightroom and do some work on it and then export it as a psd file. when i do
that, the transparent layer is converted to a 255 white.  how can i preserve
the transparency in lightroom?
