Quite true in most photographic sectors.

Yet, somebody's paying for those:
$50K + medium format camera and lens combo's.
$14K + canon 1ds mkIII with 400 2.8

Everything: market, style, technology, cost of entry;
is in flux from the 'old days'

Yet, Ted, you managed to earn your keep and reputation
while using Leica (always top price point) in the past.
I suspect some number of youngsters
will figure it out in the future.
