Now that you mention it, I seem to recall the "screwmount is dead"
threads! Dead is a four letter word that can drives up prices. :-)

Not being privy to Leica's marketing strategies,  I haven't got the 
slightest idea.

A SWAG might guess that by 1963, they divined that screw mount was a 
dead issue.

Now if you want something REALLY rare, try to locate a 35mm Summilux in 
screw mount
