Tina is correct, providing you are shooting Raw you can change the "as shot"
WB of the Raw file in the conversion. It might be useful for some
circumstances to not have to make a subjective decision though. Measuring
negates that. You can see what the camera interprets as correct for a jpg
output on the preview screen if you want. If you look at the preview with
current firmware you can see the preview change after a second or so. Note
too that during the conversion the area of predicted clipping (a guideline
only) can change as the WB is reset, so you are affecting the exposure to
some extent. Maybe only relevant to some highlight situations?
Two other thoughts. If you are doing a series in consistent light you can
include a colour checker/white balance card in one shot then measure and
synchronise from that in the Raw file conversions. No reason why those other
tools shouldn't work, I just haven't had a need there or tried them.
The current firmware for the M8 seems to work very well, and better than
previous incarnations for auto decisions too. There may perhaps be a further
refinement of that with the next firmware, maybe announced at Photokina?
(speculation)

RAW. White balance doesn't matter with RAW. Your RAW file contains
all of the information present when the photo was taken so you can
balance after the fact when you "develop" the photo.
