a) he did not pay for his DMR
b) gets free repairs on his DMR.

Why would you do as he does?

Ask his technician......

What I saw when the local Leica rep demonstrated the DMR, was him 
breathing on the sensor and wiping with
a Microfiber cloth.  Remember, the sensor is exposed  and accessible 
when the back is off the body.
