Octavia Williams, 47, and Timothy Benjamin, 35, were jailed by Alexandria Police officers for allegedly hitting each other with a barbecue pit, authorities reported. Officers were called to 2900 Hynson St. at 8:23 p.m. Tuesday by Williams in reference to a disturbance. Williams of 1800 Pat St. told police she was visiting her daughter and the daughter's boyfriend, Benjamin of 54 Meyer St., Apartment B, was also there, according to the city police report. An argument ensued between Benjamin and Williams because another man was also visiting and Benjamin wanted him to leave, police reported. Williams said she picked up a barbecue pit and hit Benjamin in the head with it, after which he picked up the barbecue pit and hit Williams in the head, according to police. Williams said she then picked up the barbecue pit and hit the back window of Benjamin's Dodge Dynasty automobile, authorities reported. While the two were fighting, the other man allegedly picked up a stick and hit Benjamin's brother, according to police. The report said, "All statements were confusing and conflicting. Acadian (Ambulance) arrived on the scene and treated the victims. Once released by Acadian, Benjamin and Octavia (Williams) were handcuffed, read their rights and transported to (jail) for booking." Benjamin was booked into the Rapides Parish Jail on a charge of aggravated battery, authorities said, and Williams was booked on charges of aggravated battery and simple criminal damage to property valued less than $500. -- Regards, Sonny http://www.sonc.com Natchitoches, Louisiana USA
