Wide open and close up it would be very difficult. The 180mm f/2.8 at
close focus and max aperture has just barely more depth of field than a
Noctilux. The fact that a 180mm lens would usually be used over much
longer distances past say, 25 feet would enable the user to accurately
focus the lens. This of course, is all dependent upon the accuracy of
the camera's RF and the VF magnification. A 1.25x magnifier would be a
must have for this application. I think it it could be pulled off if
using an M3 with its great VF magnification and very wide EBL.
Other than that, I just love doing stuff like this because I can. The
challenge of making it work is the whole reason.
