The marmots can be a bit of a pest when they burrow under buildings, and the entire camp where I was staying had a load of marmot turds on nearly every exterior horizontal surface. One person was employed for several days power-washing the exteriors, mostly to get rid of the marmot crap. Fortunately the Yellow-bellied Marmot tends to burrow under sheltering stones or logs rather than on open ground so horse injuries due to stepping in marmot burrows are less a problem than in Ground Hog/Woodchuck or Prairie Dog habitat.
