I seem to recall someone here saying that the Solms assemblers just reached 
into a bin of 
S/N-numbered shoes to put one on the body at hand. If so, the true first M8 
might have any number 
from the first batch of shoes. Unless, of course, Solms made sure that shoe 
#3100000000000000 was used.
