Jim I have used R lenses with a Olympus E-510 and you get noise and even 
stabilization could not work as the camera needs the lens information 
you are using with. I'm not sure if last firmware allows to do taht but 
I stopped using R lenses as the Olympus first class lenses as 7-14, 
14-54 and 50-200mm are very, very, good ones. If noise is a important 
matter go for Canon and a adapter as you can use R lenses with a,let's 
say Canon 40D, with a wonderful abilility for low light pictures.
