[Leica] In defence of the newspapers

This is probably true many places, but in Milwaukee (and Wisconsin in 
general)
the tradition continues of good newspaper photos. The Milwaukee Journal was
training ground for many photographers who went on the National Geographic,
LIFE, The Smithsonian, etc.

In the glory days, the photo department was under the PRODUCTION area, not
editorial, so whatever benefited how well the high-quality photos appeared 
was
pursued.  Thus the Journal led in the use of multi-flash for separation of
tones on newsprint, as well as the change to 35mm for more flexible coverage.
