And you think Leica is not going to " introduce a new model every 2 years
and halve the value of the previous model on the used market" ? ( Past
history... the M7 and MP did it to the M6 ) The M8 to the M7. ( and I am
not familiar enough with the R series to comment there.....). And certainly
the M9 to the M8. It is called "progress", "survival" or true reality on
the 21st Century......

Sure, the option to upgrade is yours, alone. But you missed the point.

Do you own an original PC, the one with the 8088 processor? Why not? It
probably would still work as well as the day it was made, but technology
moves on, and so does the market.

My point is that this upgrade path is not or may not be all it is cracked
up to be and buyers or rather potential buyers should be careful in spending
THEIR bucks. New models await and sometimes it is better to replace your
8088 machine with a Duo Core Pentium machine than to upgrade it.......

When exactly was the last time Leica offered an upgrade path service? Leica
A? IIIC? IIIF? This is a real fundamental change to the body and its
ability to function ( larger sensor), certainly not a cosmetic only one.

"Forever" ????? Even a junior marketing guy knows better...........

If you don't want the upgrades then you don't buy them. I thought the last
time Leica offered this kind of service it was seen a a positive thing?

Is it worse than what Canon and Nikon do, introduce a new model every 2
years and halve the value of the previous model on the used market?
