Some of the older ones looked like that (1600 - 1700). The most recent
looked like this:

My father-in-law was a good friend with one of the carpenters
(something tells me that furniture carpenters probably have their own
name). Anyway, he told us how Stena Line, one of the passenger and
cruise ferry companies, got in touch with him and wanted to order 350
chairs.

He only did 4 a year and his brother did 4. They suggested that Stena
Line get something mass-produced.

The wood was purchased years in advance and allowed to season. Each
chair was polished by hand a couple of dozen times.

We have some pieces, but not a whole set.
