Philippe, he was asking us to consider a question (see title).  What did you
not agree with?  I thought it was a very good summary of the way things have
evolved with photography in the world of fine arts.  It doesn't have
anything to do with the kind of vernacular photography most of us practice.
Cindy Sherman isn't irrelevant; she's just irrelevant to what most of us do
with our cameras.  I don't understand the kind of angst that worries that
photography's role in art-making is a threat to its many other uses.
